RESULTS  (to print click here)

The Scholastic Surf Series a Division of the WSA completed its eighth (8th) year of competition with the Middle School State Championships at Oceanside Harbor. Thirty (30) Middle School Teams from Santa Cruz to San Diego traveled to Oceanside in search of a State Championship Title.  The surf was pumping all weekend long as a new south swell filled in combined with some northwest swell making for some peaky conditions on Saturday morning.  It was a solid 4 to 6 foot plus with offshore conditions starting off the morning on Saturday.  These kids were on fire all weekend long just confirming that Middle School Surfing has evolved into a hotbed of surfing’s rising young talent. Congratulations to Shorecliffs Middle School for claiming their eighth State Championship Title in the Overall Team.  Shorecliffs also claimed Division Titles in Boys Shortboard, Boys Longboard, Girls Shortboard and Girls Longboard.  The Bodyboard Division Title was won by Valley Middle School. Congratulations to the winners of each of the divisions:  Boys Shortboard: Will ‘Tex’ Mitchell, Oceanside, who defended his Title as the winner from last years event; Boys Longboard:  Aidan Sautner, Shorecliffs; Girls Shortboard: Sawyer Lindblad, Shorecliffs; Girls Longboard: Carolyn Sasche, Shorecliffs; Bodyboard: Tommy Kelly, Valley.  The spotlight is on Carolyn Sasche from Shorecliffs as the recipient of the SSS Sportsmanship Award presented by SuperBrand Surfboards with a new SuperBrand Board.

We wish to thank our sponsors for their support throughout the season and providing prizes and awards for the competitors at the event: Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club, Standard Graphics, Sticky Bumps, SuperBrand Surfboards, Surface Sun Systems, and the Western Surfing Assoc. (WSA). We also wish to thank the City of Oceanside and the Oceanside Lifeguards along with our coaches and parents for supporting our scholastic surfing kids.  Listed below are the results for all 30 schools.
