After such a horrible week of fires affecting so many homes and displacing our SSS families to the north, it was a beautiful sight to have some of the best waves that Avalanche can offer. The waves were firing all weekend long with perfect 4 to 6 foot waves and weather we usually see in summer. We are truly grateful to have these conditions for the kids to perform in. Oak Crest took the team win along with a win in Girls Shortboard from Veronica Hughes. But it was Cole McCaffray from Oak Crest that put on the show of the event in the quarter finals locking down 3 tens on a perfect wave that ended with a barrel that brought the crowd to their feet cheering. But in the end it was Alex Cockrell from Muirlands taking the win in the Boys Shortboard followed by team mate Jordyn Kelly taking the win in the Girls Longboard division. Kevin Kraatz from Valley secured the win in the Boys Longboard. Taking the win in Coed Bodyboard was Keaton Morehead from Aviara Oaks. It was such an amazing weekend to end the year for the San Diego Middle School Division 1 teams. Thank you to all our sponsors and parents for supporting our SSS kids in their sport of surfing.
