International Surf Services… Last weekend was super fun and filled with excellent RESULTS at the WSA West Coast Championships at Church Beach in San Clemente!!!
After a long consistent season all of our athletes, and coach, put in the hard work and focus to finalize the season and qualify for the US Championships and/or the 2015/16 Surfing America Prime series.
Taking the big win in the U12 Boys division, it was Levi Slawson dominating the final with a pair of 9.5s with a huge one maneuver air reverse and another wave with a series of smooth flowing power turns. Levi dominated the season winning 4 of the 6 events that he entered. Also dominating the season was Ethan Grant who finished this event in =5th in the U18 Boys, but had worked so hard through the season that he was crowned the West Coast Champion in the end. Ethan Mudge also finished impressively solid with a fourth place showing in the U14 Boys and a =5th in the U16. In the U12 & U14 Girls it was Bryce Ava Wettstein as our double finalist with a third and fourth very respectively. And our newest athlete, Jordyn Barratt, surfed fast and powerful for a third place finish in the U18 Girls securing a “come from behind” fourth place in the ratings. Izzy Hopkins also surfed great but was eliminated in the U14 Girls early and then regrouped to come back and win the U14 Girls Longboard with some amazing maneuvers and traditional style. Also surfing great but not making the finals were Grayson Amthor and Hagan Johnson.
Not only did our athletes perform, but Coach Erik Krammer was there on all levels helping everyone to manage their heats and analyze conditions as well as surfing to a third place finish in the Senior Mens division.
Congratulations to all of our athletes this season, and thank you for your dedication, focus, and commitment to our training and coaching programs!!! @levi.slawson @ethan__grant @ethan.mudge @graysonamthor @haganjohnson @jordynbarratt #BryceWettstein @izzy.hopkins
