Results: Heavens LA/Santa Barbara High School Div.2:
The Scholastic Surf Series a division of the Western Surfing Assoc. (WSA) completed event # 1 of the Los Angeles-Santa Barbara High School Division 2 surf season at Heavens Beach in Malibu. This was the first event ever for Div 2 in our region.
The event kicked off with the tide dropping and the swell increasing. The conditions were beautiful all day with light winds and glassy surfaces making the 2-4 foot waves really fun. Thank you to Surface Sunscreen as the day was warm. Once the team on team fun started, the fun never stopped. The skies stayed clear and the wind stayed down as the finals got under way. A few highlights of the day were Aaron Kinberb of Oak Park taking the win in the Longboard division. Also Brock Piro of Oxnard High put everybody on notice and took the victory in the Mens Shortboard event. Emily Flavin took a convincing victory in both the Womens Shortboard and Womans Longboard division.
