The Scholastic Surf Series kicked off the 2011-2012 season series with event #1 of San Diego Division 3 High School surfing this past Saturday at San Fernando Place in Mission Beach (MB). The seven teams competing showed no signs of a summer break, as competitors ripped apart MB’s 3-to 4-foot surf. However, in the end it was University City, Westview, Rancho Buena Vista, and Vista (had a bye) coming out on top. With four more events still on tap, don’t be surprised if you see Cathedral Catholic, Canyon Crest, and San Marcos on the podium next time, as the teams we’ll surely put in another strong performance.
