Scholastic Surf Series

Zuma Beach, Tower 10 – Oct 2, 2016

October 2nd, 2016  – Zuma Beach Tower 10

For a second day in a row Zuma was pumping for the High School Division 1 SSS event LA to Santa Barbara. The swell dropped a little bit from the day before, but zuma was still offering 3 to 4 foot peaks up and down the beach. The wind stayed calm till about 1:00 and then that north west wind picked up and made the conditions a little challenging. All the schools were fired up to start off the year with a win and it was San Marcos who came up on top with 75 points defeating Morro Bay with 48 points. With a stacked Men’s Shortboard final it was SJ Murphy (Malibu) who took the win. Cole Spooner (Oak Park) was ripping all day and took 1st in the Men’s Longboard. The Woman’s Shortboard final was stacked as well, but it was Gracey George (Santa Monica) who ran away with the win. Betsey Lee (Malibu) got first in the Woman’s Longboar final and Matty Pierce (Santa Barbara) making three finals ended up in 1st place in the Coed Bodyboarding.
