This was opening day for our High School Div 3 & Div 4 surf teams.  Avalanche was true to its name as it was truly an Avalanche of water that greeted us on Saturday morning.  After a windy, victory at sea day on Friday, the surf jumped up over night and Saturday morning we arrived to find some very challenging and mixed up conditions.  Surf was running in the 6 to 8 foot range and you could really see how the surfers have improved over the summer months.  They were undaunted by the conditions and showed some unbelievable skills in handling the conditions.

Division 3:  It was an incredible day for Brice Smith from the San Marcos “A” Team.  He took impressive back to back wins in both Mens Shortboard and Mens Longboard.  San Marcos “A” Team was also victorious in the team event as well as Kornelija Newcomer taking the win in Womens Shortboard, and Andrew Dafnis in Bodyboard.  It would have been a clean sweep for San Marcos except Molly Tuschen from University City spoiled the sweep by winning the Womens Longboard.

Division 4:  Mission Bay and Grauer split the honors taking 2 wins each.  Jared Fearon, Mens Shortboard and Ciara Gray, Womens Shortboard from Mission Bay took the wins for their team while Dennis El-Ghoroury, Mens Longboard and Kai Stern in Bodyboard took the wins for Grauer.  Chloe Faucher from Our Lady of Peace took the first place win in the Womens Longboard.  Thanks coaches and parents for all your support and we look forward to seeing what the season has in store for us.

Exit Sea World Drive and veer to the right
Stay in left lanes and veer to the left on Sunset Cliffs Blvd
You will cross over the river
Turn right on Point Loma Blvd (signal)
Turn right on Voltaire (small street about 1/2 mile down)
You will now be in the parking lot
SSS site is at the very south end of the parking lot

COMING FROM THE SOUTH
I-5 North
Exit I-8 West (beaches)
I-8 becomes Sunset Cliffs Blvd.
Merge to the left onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd
Turn Right on Point Loma Blvd (signal)
Turn right on Voltaire (small street about 1/2 mile down)
You will now be in the parking lot
SSS site is at the very south end of the parking lot
