After a welcomed February with mild temps , El Nino showed back up just in time for our fourth event of the season for our Orange County Middle School Teams. Early morning before start of contest, north side of the pier was closing out with some 4 to 7 foot sets. Concerned for the safety of our competitors, we requested that the lifeguards let us run 2 areas on the south side. Thank you to the San Clemente Lifeguards for sharing our concern and granting us permission to run our event on the South Side. Still some challenging conditions with 5 to 7 foot + waves for our surfers but they were all charged up and ready to compete. Due to the challenging conditions we did not run Division 2. Excellent performances from Shorecliffs surfers Hagan Johnson in Boys Shortboard, Kai McPhillips in Boys Longboard and Hana Catsimanes, Girls Longboard along with Marco Forster surfers Grace Gilles, Girls Shortboard and Liam Gillon, Bodyboard. Each of these surfers took the win in those respective divisions. Kai McPhillips has now turned in his 4th win of the season in Boys Longboard.
