It was a cool brisk day for the High School Division 1 event. The waves were in the 2 to 3 foot range, clean in the morning with winds picking up throughout the day. All competitors handled the conditions very well. Morro Bay came out on top with the most overall team points with 79 defeating Palisades with 50. Santa Barbara was in a close second place with 78 points defeating Oak Park with 51. Dos Pueblos beat Ventura 69-62. Arroyo Grande beat Santa Monica 55-52. Everyone was ripping in the Men’s Shortboard Final, but in the end it was local boy Arata Tomatsuri (Ventura) who took the win. Collin Bosse (Dos Pueblos) showed his Longboard skills and his Bodyboard skills and found himself in first place in both the Men’s Longboard Final and the Coed Bodyboard Final. For the second contest in a row, Maddie Malmsten (Santa Barbara) placed first in the Women’s Shortboard division. Adi Mahan (Santa Barbara) was displaying her awesome Longboard skills and ended up winning the Woman’s Longboard Final.
