Morro Bay – Oct 21, 2018

The SSS was very excited to have our first event ever at Morro Bay. It was the perfect place to start the 2018-2019 season for this new section. With heavy fog in the morning and low visibility, we were forced to put the contest on hold for 45 minutes until the fog began to lift. Even with this delay, we still saw tremendous enthusiasm from all competitors. Ashley Trevino played some excellent jams on the ukulele to keep our spirits high while we waited for the fog to clear. The waves were fun in the morning; about 3-4 feet with clean conditions and then West winds picked up later in the day making conditions a little more challenging. This did not stop the surfers from ripping. It was wonderful to see new freshman faces joining the SSS and previous middle school surfers moving up to the high school division. Thank you all for making this a successful event. We know this was the start to a great season.
